Evan's Bio

I work as a PR specialist and account manager with Talk Shop Media in Vancouver with a focus on the real estate and development market.

Before joining Talk Shop, I worked as a journalist for nearly a decade, with six years of that spent as a freelance reporter for the Vancouver Sun and Postmedia network, the Real Estate News Exchange, Reuters and others.

In the slightly more distant past, I worked at the Bangkok Post newspaper as a news copy-editor and as a freelance reporter in Thailand, and as a daily news reporter for the Vancouver Sun.

In 2012 I co-won a Webster Award for Best News Reporting, Print, with the Vancouver Sun.

I earned a Master’s of Journalism degree in 2011 at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. In addition to daily news, I’ve also written about travel, property, business, politics and foreign policy.

My work has appeared in B The Change Magazine,  Embassy Magazine,  The Bangkok Post, Shanghai Daily, The Tyee, The Globe and Mail, Business in Vancouver,  The North Shore News, Xinhua, Coconuts Bangkok and many other publications.

I spent much of 2011 working with a group of eight fellow graduates from the University of British Columbia journalism program with Al Jazeera on a documentary called Freedom from Pain. The half-hour film about global health and access to end-of-life palliative treatment in India, Uganda and the Ukraine premiered in July, 2011 on AJE’s People & Power.
